We purchased a printing press from Toshiba which was being manufactured in Japan.  When time came for delivery, a group of us went there to test the press and folder. One of my favorite stories is about a day when we were running a large test.

The press was running fine.  We were testing different fold patterns.  Suddenly, the entire plant seemed to shake as if a roller was suddenly out of balance (they were 5’ wide and about 4’ in diameter).  The Japanese foreman had a sick look on his face and ran to hit the emergency stop.  He said loudly, “ I am defeated” in Japanese.  The press stopped.  The building kept shaking.  Everyone was relieved, it was only an earthquake.
